# Web pages

> Show any public web page in a Streamloop scene: alerts, chats, dashboards and visualizers, with custom CSS and a transparent background.

<Info>
  Scenes are in private beta. See [Scenes](/docs/scenes/overview) to request access.
</Info>

A **Web page** source puts a live web page on air, like a browser source in OBS. Use it for alerts,
chat overlays, live dashboards, visualizers or any page with a public URL.

## Add a web page

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add the source">
    In **Sources & layers**, click **Add source** and pick **Web page**. Drag it onto a frame.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the URL">
    Enter the page's **URL**. It must be a public `http://` or `https://` address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Adjust the look">
    Size the layer on the canvas. The page renders at the size of the layer that shows it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Publish">
    [Publish](/docs/scenes/build-a-scene#publish) the scene to put the page on air.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Settings

* **Transparent**: clears the page's own background, so parts of the page with nothing on them show
  the scene behind. Turn it on for overlays and alerts. When it's off, the page sits on white.
* **Custom CSS**: styles added to the page as its last stylesheet, for example to hide a header or
  change a font. Up to 60 KB.
* **Reload**: reloads the page on air at the interval you pick. Use it for pages that don't update
  themselves.
* Scrollbars are always hidden.

## What you see is what airs

The canvas preview is a picture taken by the same renderer that plays the page on air, with your
custom CSS. If the preview looks right, the stream looks the same.

## If the page doesn't show

* Check that the URL opens in a private browser window without signing in. Streamloop can only show
  public pages.
* Some pages take a while to draw their first picture. Give them a moment after you publish.
