In order and Shuffle cover most channels. When you need a rule that’s a little smarter, use Smart order: you describe the order in plain words, and an AI assistant builds it. You preview the result, then apply it to your playlist. This page assumes you already have a playlist. See Build and schedule your playlist.

What you can ask for

The dashboard suggests a few to start from:
  • “Play the first video once as an intro, then play the rest.”
  • “Play everything in order, then shuffle on every loop after.”
  • “Shuffle, but keep several videos between any repeats.”
  • “Play the longest videos first, then the shorter ones.”
  • “Always end each loop with the same outro video.”
You can also combine rules, refer to videos by name, or use the time of day (“play the morning clips before noon”).

Create a smart order

1

Open Loop behavior

In your loop, open the Playlist tab. Under Loop behavior, choose Smart order.
2

Describe the order

Under Describe how you want your playlist to play, pick a suggestion or type your own. Be specific about edge cases. “Play the intro once at the start, then loop the rest in order, never repeating the intro” works better than “play the intro first.”
3

Refine it

The assistant replies in a chat. If it asks a question, answer it. To change the result, send another message: Refine — add a rule, swap, or start over.
4

Check the preview

The preview lists the items in the order they will play. After you change your playlist, click Refresh preview to see the new order.
5

Apply it

Click Apply this order. On a live loop, the new order takes over at the next item, with no restart.
Each message to the Smart order assistant costs about $0.005 in credits.

If an item is missing

If your order mentions a video by name that isn’t in the playlist, Streamloop still applies it and shows Order advisories that list what’s missing. Add the item, rename it to match, or ask the assistant for a version that doesn’t need it.

Scheduled breaks

Scheduled breaks are rolling out gradually and may not be available in your workspace yet.
A scheduled break interrupts the playlist at a set time, even in the middle of a long video. For example: “Play the news video at the top of every hour.” At the break, the current video stops, the break plays, and then the interrupted video continues from where it stopped.
  • Describe the break as part of your order. The preview shows each break under Scheduled breaks.
  • Times follow your own time zone.
  • Breaks work on the video playlist only.
To run breaks only during part of the day (for example 06:00–22:00), combine a smart order with a repeating schedule.

Use it on the audio playlist

You can apply a smart order to the Audio playlist instead, for example “shuffle the songs and play the station jingle every three or four tracks.” A loop can use one smart order at a time, on either its video or its audio playlist. To move it, click Revert on the playlist that has it first.

Turn it off or remove it

  • Revert takes the smart order off this playlist. The playlist goes back to a built-in order, and the saved order stays in Your saved orders for later.
  • Remove order deletes a saved order. You can’t remove an order that a playlist still uses: switch those playlists to a different order first.

If something goes wrong while you’re live

A smart order can never take your stream off the air. If the order hits a problem while picking the next item, that slot plays in the playlist’s natural order instead. Streamloop tries the smart order again after a few items.
