Restream Review

Restream is primarily a live multistreaming service and browser production studio. Its core plans control active destination channels, Studio quality, recording and team features.

Prerecorded playback is packaged separately under Upload & Stream, so it should not define the whole product or be priced from the core-plan table alone.

No documented Restream tier supports a single 30-day prerecorded event. An individual uploaded video or Restream recording can repeat up to 10 times, with a maximum resulting event length of 40 hours.

That makes Restream suitable for bounded simulive events and marathons, not a defensible perpetual-loop replacement.

Premier costs $39 per month, provides a two-hour 1080p library and does not loop. Marathon costs $79 per month, provides four hours of 1080p media and enables looping. Media costs $239 per month, provides a 12-hour library, enables looping and adds 4K.

Restream presents Upload & Stream as separately priced and says recorded-video streaming is available to all account levels, with Restream branding on Free. The reviewed public documentation does not establish an additional paid core subscription as a prerequisite for buying loop-capable add-on capacity.

A prerecorded playlist can contain up to 40 entries, including duplicates, and run for up to 24 hours. Playlists do not automatically loop; repetition requires duplicating entries.

After playback starts, videos cannot be added, removed or reordered. Live and prerecorded sources cannot be mixed in the same playlist, and back-to-back playlists are separate streams with a two-minute buffer.

Current core pricing lists Free at $0, Standard at $19 monthly, Professional at $49 and Business at $239. Annual totals are $190, $470 and $2,390 respectively, with rounded monthly equivalents displayed on the cards.

Free includes two simultaneous channels, Restream branding and 720p Studio output. Its recordings may run for up to six hours and are retained for 15 days. Those core limits are separate from Upload & Stream media-library and looping entitlements.

Custom RTMP or RTMPS requires a paid core plan. Restream cannot provide its unified chat, platform analytics or destination-title control for those channels because the connection does not use the destination's native API.

Titles must be managed on the destination itself. The reviewed help article does not publish a separate custom-RTMP quota beyond the account's broader channel configuration.

Streamloop is more direct when the channel is entirely prerecorded, should run indefinitely and does not need a guest studio, live chat aggregation or one-to-many fan-out.

Restream remains the better category match for produced live shows, guests and simultaneous multi-platform distribution with only occasional prerecorded events.
